An individual at Fort McMurray Composite High School has been identified as positive for COVID-19. 

Since becoming aware of this member of our school community being diagnosed, out of an abundance of caution, the following steps have been taken:

-Students and staff in close contact have been notified.
-Parents have been contacted to pick up children and remain in isolation
-AHS has been contacted to notify of these positive results
-Communication has been sent to all close contacts. 

The last possible date of close contact was January 22, 2021. As FMPSD has a strict practice in place allowing no access to school facilities over the weekend we are confident that with evening clearing and sanitation practices and the weekend to leave the building 'rest' that our facilities remain safe for student and staff attendance.

FMPSD will await further direction from AHS regarding the length of time that students and staff must remain in isolation. 

Student and staff health and safety is our priority. We will continue to work diligently with Alberta Health Services.
