Phase II Modernization

The Redford government will invest in a new modernization project at Fort McMurray Composite High School as part of its Building Alberta Plan.

“This school modernization project reinforces our commitment to invest in Alberta’s families and communities. We are making certain that students and communities, today and long into the future, have the world-class school facilities they need to learn and be successful.”
- Alison Redford, Premier

This is the second and final phase of a comprehensive modernization project for Fort McMurray Composite High School. This stage will include architectural and exterior upgrades, as well as interior modifications to meet programming needs and make better use of space.

The first phase of the modernization of Fort McMurray Composite High School, which involves mechanical and electrical upgrades, is expected to be completed by June 2014.

“Under our Building Alberta Plan, we are working hard to make our education system more student centred and responsive to the needs of kids and their communities. Modern facilities are essential to achieving the goals of Inspiring Education and will help ensure that Alberta’s students receive a world-class education.”
- Jeff Johnson, Minister of Education

Last spring, Premier Redford committed to build and modernize 120 schools throughout the province. This new modernization project is one example of how the province is building Alberta’s school infrastructure. Additional school projects are being announced in the next couple of weeks.
