“Drama is life with the dull parts left out.” – Alfred Hitchcock
Our Fort McMurray Composite High School Drama Department provides every opportunity to students to be a part of this vibrant element of our school’s Fine Arts community. Drama courses, full length productions, one act plays, and technical theatre are all part of the experience. Our black box theatre gives us the opportunity to be creative in not only our staging, but by helping our audience feel like a part of the action. Students will learn the key elements of character development, movement, improvisation, directing and how to tell better stories. Involvement in drama builds self-confidence in an environment that allows you to make mistakes without fear of chastisement. Skills learned in drama are transferrable to other courses, from presentations and projects to being given the opportunity to discover who you are as an individual. So much of our lives is about transmission of ideas – drama offers students a way to grow, focus, and gain invaluable skills to last a lifetime.
